Not too long ago, I sold my own house For Sale by Owner. When I put the For Sale sign in the front yard, almost immediately, I started to get phone calls. I was really excited, however, most of the calls were from Realtors or random curious buyers! By the end of the first few days I was tired of answering my phone. I knew I needed to do something to narrow down the phone calls to only the people who were truly interested in my home. It was time to design a flyer.
I spent a few hours taking pictures of my house. I uncluttered each room and took several photos from alternate angles. I then designed an advertisement using the photos and added important and unique information about my home. I printed one double-sided full-color flyer, laminated it, and attached it with a pull string to my for sale sign. What a difference it made! People who drove by would stop and look at the pictures and read about the house. Those who were still interested, called, and those who weren't didn't! This saved me so much time. I was able to get two legitimate offers on my house after having my For Sale! Flyer out for less than a week!
